“This is our greatest endeavor since our founding. This campaign will build the foundation for thousands more to be helped by The Sharing Center— Larry Ellis, Board Chair

The Sharing Center x You = Community

Founded in the Wheatland Estates Mobile Home Park four decades ago, The Sharing Center has always been a resource for the people of Kenosha County, by the people of Kenosha County, and supported by the people of Kenosha County.

As Rick Fors frequently would quip, “I made a New Year’s resolution asking God to please open my eyes to people in need….and a few days later, some neighbors came over and asked if we could feed their children. It was a strange coincidence”.

From their the vision of people helping people, The Sharing Center was born. A community center turned into a food pantry, a camper into emergency housing- and a light of hope for those in need. Over the years, The Center has had its footprint in New Munster, Silver Lake, and Paddock Lake- and Trevor, where it has been since 2012.

The Sharing Center today serves over 4,100 individuals (1,642 families) through their programs. Whether it’s providing monthly groceries for families, clothing for children, employment guidance for eager neighbors, or pet food, The Sharing Center is there. The goal, however, is not to just fill a need- it’s to empower those who come to The Center to thrive not just survive.

Our programs are unique because we fill basic and essential needs so that the families we serve can focus their resources on saving for housing, transportation, and keeping the utilities on.

From surviving to thriving, The Sharing Center has helped thousands of families over the last four decades. Read below about some of the stories of impact.

As story of a life you’ve helped impact…

For Lauren, taking care of her kids is her life. Like so many, each paycheck is a puzzle- deciding what bill to prioritize, how to make meals stretch, and balance a full household. She shared with us that she sometimes just felt like giving up- but she didn’t because of her kids.

The Sharing Center’s programs didn’t just give her the tools she needed, they empowered her to focus her paycheck on saving up for permanent housing, paying off her car, and finding a better paying job. As Lauren shared with us- “Sharing Center didn’t just help, they set me up for a better future for me and my family”.

The Brick x Brick Campaign will increase the amount of families (just like Lauren’s) that can be served by The Sharing Center. It will increase capacity in resources that can be distributed. It will bring together more services for folks living west of I-94.

Help reach countless more like Lauren today!
